Atmospheric Landscapes
Tuesdays Sept. 24- Oct. 29 (6 weeks) 10am-12pm
Working from photo, this class will use various acrylic painting techniques to create soft, deep, moody impressions of landscape. Glazing, layering, buffing, and more will help landscapes achieve depth and mystery.
Cost: $125, supplies not included Beginners Welcome!

Stamps, Stencils, Masking, Prints
Thursdays, Sept. 26- Oct.31 (6 weeks) 10am-12pm
Using acrylic paints, we will explore indirect ways to make marks and textures on canvas.
Technique, play, and composition with help students create unique and exciting works.
Cost: $125, supplies not included Beginners Welcome!

Open Critique
Sunday, October 6th, 9-11:30am
In a supportive and constructive environment, students will bring 1-2 pieces for discussion.

The Life of Water

At The Cedarburg Art Museum

Water, the main constituent of all living things, is interpreted by 57 Wisconsin artists accepted into Cedarburg Art Museum’s tenth juried exhibition The Life of Water. Juror Christine Buth-Furness deliberated over a record number of artists’ entries in digital format for acceptance and will determine $1000 in awards from artwork on display at the museum before the June 1, 2 – 4pm reception with an awards ceremony at 3pm.

Painting our Seasons

At the Cedarburg Cultural Center

Saturday, July 13:  9 am-4 pm 

In this one-day workshop, students will create four 8”x8” paintings of the different seasons. Using acrylic paints and photos for reference, we will discuss color and application to begin one season at a time. This class will be informative for anyone looking to deepen their painting skills and fun for those who want a unique gift or keepsake. Class will break for 30 minute lunch.  All supplies are included.

Concept

Acrylic paint, in its versatility, pairs well with many other media. Chalk (or soft) pastels are a great complement to acrylics as they are water-soluble, boldly colored, and expressive in mark. Combining acrylics and pastels offers a broad range of creative possibilities.

Extend your artistic skills through a class that teaches you to work with Acrylics and Chalk Pastels on the same piece. When using these two together, an artist can achieve fluidity in their painting highlighted by the mark-making of drawing. With a focus on materials, students will work from a photo to create unique mixed media images.

Delve into the art of abstraction as you explore physical still life setups and still life photography. Saturday, Aug 24th10:00am-3:00pm *Bring lunch for 30min break

Join Beki Borman to make some fun recycled art for an extended Saturday class that includes a 30min break for lunch (please bring your own) Art can be made from lots of different materials, including recycled ones! Papers, cardboard, paints, crayons, papers, and more will be used to create visually interesting one of a kind abstracts.
