Statement

As a lifelong resident of Wisconsin, I continue to be influenced by the complex and unique spaces of the great plains. My fascination with the horizon line stems from a sense of scale. Our unique ability to see across the flatness of the midwest is unmatched. Colors and shapes define these edges where sky meets ground, river meets valley, or tree line meets hills. Farmlands and roads carve through the edges and sharpen our sense of depth. The colors and shapes provide endless compositions and textures. With the land as my muse, I seek abstract compositions and aesthetic qualities in acrylic paint.

Using knives, stencils, rollers, and more, I continue to create works that pursue the visual patterns of landscape but remain objectively paint.
